I want to have a new deck installed. What is the first step?
Your first step is to call us to schedule your free in-home
no obligation quote. Evening and weekend appointments are
available.
What options do I have in the materials used on my deck?
We can build your deck from a wide variety of materials.
Treated lumber, western red cedar, and any of the new
low-maintenance composite materials including
Trex®
brand composite decking.
What are the benefits of using Trex®
brand composite decking? What
are the drawbacks?
Trex decking and railing products are made from a unique
combination of reclaimed wood and plastic, giving you the best
qualities of both materials. The plastic shields the wood from
moisture and insect damage, so there's no rotting or
splintering. The wood protects the plastic from UV damage and
gives your deck a solid, natural feel. It looks great year after
year. And because there is no need to spend hours staining or
repairing, the enjoyment of a Trex deck is truly timeless.
What sort of railing options do I have to help make my deck
unique?
Our standard custom railing is very attractive and made from
either cedar or Trex. We install custom glass railing
as well as the popular
Deckorator spindles, with many other options available.
Do you build screen rooms and gazebos?
Yes. Our screen rooms are built with screen underneath, with
glass lower wall and screens above. Our gazebos can be built
either screened in or open air with glass or standard railing.
Once I sign up, how long will it take to start building? How
long will it take to complete?
Once you have signed the contract and we have a deposit we
get started on your project immediately. The final drawings are
created and your permit is applied for within a few days. Once
the permit application is filed at your building department, it
can take anywhere from one to up to four weeks to get the
approved permit. Once we have the approved permit in hand, your
deck is put into our rotation. Depending on the time of year it
can take from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to begin
construction. On average our decks are completed in 5-7 working
days. This time will vary depending on the size and complexity
of the deck. Once our builders start on a deck, they are there
until it is finished. We will not leave your deck half completed
and start another job. Sometimes when a deck takes longer than
expected to complete, this can cause a delay with starting the
next deck in line. We ask for your patience while waiting for
your deck construction to begin. Once we begin construction you
will have the same undivided attention all of our customers
deserve.
I'm not a builder. How will I know that my deck is built
correctly?
We pull permits with your local building department. This
insures that the materials, methods, and plans for your deck all
meet local and national codes. There are a variety of
inspections conducted by your local building department along
the way as well to make sure that work is progressing according
to plan.
What options do I have paying for my deck? When are
payments due?
Cash and check are of course accepted. We also accept Visa
and Mastercard. Financing is available to qualified homeowners
as well. Please call for details. A modest deposit is due when signing
the contract. The first half of the balance is due upon job
commencement and the final half is due upon job completion.
I want CustomDecks.com to build my deck. What's next?
We need a copy of the signed contract, the deposit, a copy
of your plot plan or mortgage survey, and possibly contact
information for your homeowner's association if necessary. Once
we have all that in hand, we make our final drawings and apply
for the permit. |
